It's like "sex" is still a dirty word to some people. I think it's great to have fun and explore different things. Plus I think discussing it with friends and stuff can give you some more ideas. I do understand that some people find this a very personal subject to talk about but on the whole I think it's just fun. Plus, I've been reading a few questions on here about porn and strip clubs which is what prompted me to ask this question. I am very interested in people's opinions on this. Thanks!

I have a circle of friends that have been close for 39 years. I am the only one of them that is comfortable talking about sex, bodies and how they work and the humorous aspect of this complicated subject! When we get together and have a few drinks they always ask me the questions they have locked up like I am some guru, just because I can talk freely.
If it wasn't such a taboo subject, just think of what we could learn and solve and be curious about! Or test our abilities and the pleasure and fun we can have and give to and with our partners!
One of the group, and this is gut honest, had not had an orgasm with her husband of 23 years!!! How friggin sad is that! Because she couldn't tell him what she needed it shut down her mental process and just never happened.

Yes, it is personal but it should never be considered shameful! It is fun, it should be pleasurable and mutual and why not talk about it? How else are we gonna learn what works and what doesn't?

Whew! Thanks for the outlet!

I personally feel that the society nowadays is diversifying more and mroe. Some are religious, some are atheists/agnostics. Some dismiss any discussion on sex, race, money etc whilst there indeed is a tremendous easiness in accessing them via the Internet. That liberty requires us to have responsibility, and it also seems to make people more eager to defend themselves or their standpoints.
Also even though I, like you, have a very positive attitude on discussing sex (esp with a partner... improves sex life so much!), I also sometimes feel fed up with ubiquitousness of sex and sexiness. Especially on tv. So perhaps those prudish people are either 1) on the horns of dilemma between their belief and creed, 2) simply disturbed by the image (remember the fierce response towards Janet Jackson?), OR 3) simply disturbed by constantly being asked why on Earth they don't like sex.
I'm not so sure... But in any case, I'm sure they see something dangerous in becoming less prudish, whether its blasphemy or carelessness. Interesting question, I'm sorry my thoughts aren't so concrete.

I think it's a societal enforced "prudishness". not so much based on actual morality but more focused on avoiding lawsuits resulting from harassment cases.

I agree, it's fun to explore and chat and have fun with it...PROVIDING there is a proper time and place for it. I see why Yahoo clamps down on it due to the "younger" (13 and up) age group here. That's why I wish there was an "adult" section here with a little more latitude.

theres such a thing as T.M.I-too much info.my various school friends used to discuss their activities in detail.and now i cant help being weirded out and disliking some of them.who wants to hear about some of the grosser experiments of ones friends?one girl talks about her sex life non-stop.her nickname around town is "Trailer trash."everyone laughs at her, except the handful of people as tacky and tactless as she.i wouldnt want to be her, people think she's a bad joke!everyone listens and acts nice to her,but as soon as she leaves the room, everyone is like-OMG!!!!! she is an embarassment to herself.ps-the water balloon up her boyfriends posterior-that was unnecessary for her entire office to know!

There will always be religious types that are offended by it.

Compared to when I was growing up, I think people are becoming less and less prudish. Girls are maturing earlier, wearing make-up and revealing clothes earlier and wanting sex earlier too.

just the opposite, people need to be more prudish...people are gross nowadays...I could get into some long speech about why this came to be, but I dont see the benefit of having a society of brazen immorality...

Well the thing is, most everybody is gonna do it in their lifetime so it's a subject that MUST be talked about at some time with some one.

I am known as a prude to people who know me personally. I am a prude at heart.

But, with the anonymity I enjoy here, the pervert in me can raise her naughty head.
