Not at all. When I met my now wife, she was a regional Education Executive with a large corporation, made more money than I did and had a lot of benefits that came with her job. I was a mechanical engineer. I never thought she'd look at me twice, but we became good friends and it went from there. I respect a strong, independent woman who knows who she is and what she wants. I find it very sexy.

I am not intimidated by independent women. I guess that may be the result of a liberal arts education and the way I was raised. The women in my family, including my mother, sister, and wife, are very smart and can often be opinionated. I have no problem with that.

I was also trained for a profession in which there are a lot of women practicing. I respect those women for their knowledge and accomplishments.

___Most women I know who are actually strong and independent are not incapable of vulnerability or of emotional involvement and sensitivity, and have little or no need to raise the question of their strength or independence.
___"Independence" is a buzz word among women, as is "strong". During the Clinton administration, men who disliked Hillary were often accused as being "threatened by strong women". And a lot of other unpleasant women have used the same dodge since, as a disquise for having issues with men, for a lack of sensitivity or sincerity, or for "my way or the highway." A lot of women will try to interpret any criticism of their behavior as some fault of the man who delivers it.
___Among men, it's a red flag when a woman raises this issue.

I prefer intelligent, strong and independent women.

It can be intimidating if the woman you are involved with, acts like they don't need you. Everyone wants to feel needed and wanted.

No, I'm not. I rather like a woman who thinks for herself and is not dependent on someone else. I don't know what being OVERLY independent is.
