Any Sydney I have ever known has been a male, with a shortened version of Syd. No though everyone seems to be using it for a girls name, can't say I like it much for a girl. If you like place names here are some suggestions.
Dakota
Maddison
Savannah
Montana
Paris
London
India
Brooklyn
Adelaide (Adele)
China
Alice (Alice Springs Australia) common;y referred to as ' The Alice'

I LOVE the name Sydney... always have. It is cute on a boy or a girl.... either way. It is definitely not over-used either... that is what is so great about it. It's cute like Ashley, but not everyone has it.

I think Sydney is a really cute name. I like it more for a boy than a girl. I really don't like it for a girl at all, but I think it sounds really cute for a boy.
