i started menopause when i was 49. my periods were shorter but boy were they heavy. i wearing two or three pads at one time. it was really a nuisance. when i talked to gyn. he said that when in perimenopause(which is where you are at the moment anything can happen.) i would even miss periods. my gyn. told me that i had to make to 12 without a period before i would be in menopause. so i would wait evey month praying that i wouldn't have one. sometimes i would even have two or three a month. thank god i'm past all that now. i'm 51 and period free. good luck to you. it does get a little worse before it gets better. but it does get better. by the by. wait until the hot flashes start. my husband calls them my power surges.

I'm pre menopausal , and with my hormones causing me to feel a little yukky and my sanity and emotions testing the limits, I've read all about MENOPAUSE!!! If you are on estrogen, that could be the cause. My friend is going thru it, got on estrogen, and had heavy bleeding so bad she was afraid to go anywhere. I still have periods, sometimes twice a month, either scant or I bleed like a stuck pig! I use progesterone cream, the pills made me puke. My friend had to keep having her dose changed because it was that or a blood transfusion.

Uterine fibroids are usually not dangerous, but can cause immense discomfort and lead to complications like anemia from heavy blood loss. In rare cases, they may cause complications that affect pregnancy.
In cases where there are no symptoms, treatment may not be necessary. However, proper diagnosis and treatment may be required if your symptoms are severe or causing complications. Along with conventional treatment, you can try some natural home remedies. Read here https://tr.im/Dz026

It is very common for perimenopausal women to have very heavy and irregular periods. You aren't considered as having gone through menopause until you haven't had a period for one year. Another thing that makes for heavy periods is fibroid tumors which are very common.
