What is happening now that has never happened before? The earth has been through many warming and cooling cycles over thousands and millions of years, what EXACTLY is Different. Humans produce about 2 percent of the co2 claimed to change the earth.

I guess Al Gore figured that since he "invented the internet," he would invent a global apocalypse scenario with no basis on scientific fact.

It isn't something new, it is something that modern people have not experienced before.

In most of Earth's history, there were no polar ice caps, and there was a thicker layer of greenhouse gasses than we have had in recent millennia. In time, organic material got buried, it contained CO2. This lowered the CO2 content of the atmosphere to the point where the modern polar ice caps developed about 2 million years ago. This organic material is the oil and coal that we are bringing back up to the surface. As we burn it, the CO2 is released back into the atmosphere.

The result will not be new to the Earth, but it will be new to modern people and other lifeforms. Probably we can adapt, but it will be very difficult as cities become uninhabitable, crops we have used for centuries fail, farm land in some areas becomes unproductive, and more powerful storms occur in places not used to them.

It is in our best interests to stop the climate change if we are able to do so.

There was a post earlier today by one of them...It got pointed out that his research went back to 1953....54 years in a 4.6 Billion Year Old Earth....
The best part was when someone showed him on his chart the weather had become MORE STABLE since the worst year, 1995....
YIKES!!!!!
Just remember folks, even the "Global Warming Scientists" ackknowledge, the Earth has increased 1 degree since the Mid 1800's, and is 2 Degrees COOLER than at the time of the Greek and Roman Empires and the time of Christ!!!!!
That it will take 200-300 years of warming to REACH the Earths Temperature the Earth was at the time of Christ...........
Romans for those who do not believe in Jesus.....

P.S. Will someone please show me a reputable source that says the majority of scientists say that man is the cause of Global Warming?????

What's happening now that hasn't happened in at least several thousand years - since we started to come out of the last ice age - is the rate at which global warming is accelerating:

http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/cru/info/warming/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:2000_Year_Temperature_Comparison.png

Which just coincidentally I'm sure happens to match quite well with the rate of atmospheric CO2 concentrations increase:

http://www.john-daly.com/bull120.htm

And global climate models can't account for this acceleration without taking greenhouse gas emissions into account, which they calculate account for about 70-90% of the warming:

How was that a brainteaser, exactly?

By the way, there's a global warming section in the Environment section of YA.

I'm with you - why shouldn't we be allowed to continue spewing toxic gasses into the atmosphere as fast as we want to. Why do liberals want to breathe such clean air all the time for? After all by loosening environmental regulations on industries Americans can use up more resources faster which results in higher profits and isn't that what America is all about - MONEY???!!! No one has the right to tell me that my money has to help some endangered forest creatures that I've never even seen. So, armed forces, and fellow war lovers lets show those Iraqis that we have more bombs than they do ooo-rah! Besides, Al Gore looks funny and if global warming was real our government would tell us!

Global warming occurred once before, millions of years ago. It resulted in the death of the dinosaurs and was caused by, dinosaur farts. However in the last great act of "Up Yours" the dinosaurs turned themselves into oil so that mankind would once again cause global warming and all life would end.

At least that's going to be my next research project when the grant money for this cycle of global warming runs out!

Yeah, the thousands of scientists who have earned their PhD's in their respective fields, and study this stuff top to bottom, have got it wrong.

You, by yourself, have got it right.

I say "by yourself", because you didn't provide any legitimate sources to show otherwise.

I think the 1000+ scientists do agree on is that SOMETHING is happening to the planet. Now, if there is an itty bitty chance that we are baking ourselves, don't you think it might be a good idea to find ways to not bake ourselves?

A few less emissions in the air to breathe?

Anyways, I doubt you really care about my opinion, but anyways...that's my viewpoint.

Its now on Al Gore's agenda. Common Sense should tell you this Much: The planet is greatly overpopulated. More people equals more poisons into the air( CO2)
They just use this particular issue as their bully pulpit. That's all. Next year it will be something else. Why not tackle a problem we can do something about, like abolishing the ACLU ??

Im not sold on global warming, but no logical person can say its a really bad idea for us to cut back on how much crap we pump into the atmosohere

I remember when acid rain was the coming destruction of earth. Notice, you don't hear about it anymore. The left wing liberal main stream media got their mileage out of it and moved on. Now it's global warming. Next it will be: we are not doing enough to stop the pollution from coming out of volcanoes.

Technology, cars, industrialized farms.

Go back to the horse and buggy and become a subsistence farmer and them we can talk.
