Unless Bo Diddley Diddley'd Elvis' mom, I think it's safe to say that Elvis still would've been here.

The truth is, Elvis loved Bo Diddley's music. Elvis cites Bo as a huge influence in his own music and it's very obvious.

Elvis was influenced by the blues as a music genre. Big Mama Thornton, Arthur ‘Big Boy’ Crudup, The Prisonaires, Lowell Fulson, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Little Richard, Fats Domino and many others were all admired by Elvis who recorded many of their songs while traces of their music, delivery and style are evident in many of his other recordings. He was also influenced by several black gospel quartets. So, I don't think there is any one person who can claim their inspiration alone turned Elvis into the person he was.

Bo Diddley was from McComb, Mississippi, about 120 miles south of Tupelo.

Elvis Presley's talent would have been discovered sooner or later with out Bo Diddley's help. There are certain people put on this planet that are meant for a specific job...El was one of those chosen people. He had the talent and the gift to show it and strut it.

Elvis is the KING, Elvis will always be the KING, and yes they both came from Tupelo, but even if Elvis hadn't met Bo he still would have became the king.It wasnt about the lyrics it was about his beautiful voice.

If it wasn't for alot of African American influences, There'd be no King , as they call him. He stole is whole sound and even dance moves from all the old outback speakeasy's he would frequent when he was younger. Jim Crow laws were still in effect,so whites could come to the black clubs and enjoy themselves but black culture at the time was unseen by America. So what you get is a white guy with a black act that was acceptable to America. A La Vanilla Ice!

If it wasn't for Mr. and Mrs. Presley, there wouldn't have been an Elvis. Bo might have been an inspiration but his parents were critical.

pretty darn. elvis "used" more than one song that was written by a black artist to rise to stardom. in fact, early rock and roll was a southern black phenomenon.

there are a number of books on the history of rock and roll that support this. i am sure you can find more than one at your local library.
