sunday night baseball and evening games broadcasted on ESPN always have either the boston red sox or the new york yankees. i think that is really BS for teams such as the devil rays, rockies, and royals.

the same can also be said about sportscenter. those big name teams have like 5 minute long highlights with in-depth analysis while other teams have like barely a minute.

it's gotten to the point where i really could care less about roger clemens or whatever the hell is up with curt schilling.

Same goes with the Cubs. If they were not the Cubbies, would people REALLY watch their games?

Your question is like asking, do you want to watch Women's NCAA or Men's NCAA? AFL or NFL? Men's golf or Women's golf?

Like someone I know, sex sells. Put a woman on TV that looks good and shows some boobs, you have a hit.

Same with ESPN™. You want them to feature Ty Wigginton hitting a game winning home run over KC? I doubt that "the Majority" want to see that.

ESPN has to show what the masses want to see. If not, they will turn to another channel that features the popular team. Yeah, it sucks, but what can YOU do about it? Nothing really.

Either sink or swim......

Me, I am a White Sox fan and I have come to understand that I will not see half of the HR's hit on Sports Center because they do not have time.

BREAKING NEWS: BARRY BONDS WALKS....

See, ESPN™ will even cut into my message.

I am out of here

Well they are located in Bristol, Conn.
One hour or so from NY
So there is a bias.
They want national ratings. So they will do the Mets-Yanks and Boston vs anyone.
I am old - 50 - the NFL used to do local broadcasts. Local teams your team always
Then they went to the pizzaz. Rating. So do not think you will get your wish to watch small markets on ESPN -- or any station

wow, I dont know where to begin.

ESPN is a business, and they are in the business of making money. They arent out to live in a land of gumdrops and fairy tales where every is equal and all teams get a fair shake.

Its about ratings, advertising dollars, and putting the best product on the TV.

Lets just put it this way. Its a random Wednesday and starting at the same time are a Red Sox Tigers game or a Rockies Pirates game. They would be stupid to put the Rockies Pirates game on just to try to be fair and put all teams on tv as much as possible.

It's cuz the good more popular and rival teams is gonna bring in more revenue.

I mean seriously not many people are gonna want to watch something like the Royals vs. Nationals lmao
what are they gonna advertise...watch Gil Meche and David Dejesus take on Ryan Zimmerman and the Nationals.

Who wouldn't want to watch the best rivalry in sports Red Sox vs. Yankees

GOREDSOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because they are a profit making company.
New York and Boston are the largest baseball markets.
Many more people will watch a Red Sox and/or Yankees game than will watch a small market team.
Higher ratings=more advertising$$$.
Might not be fair, but it's a fact of life.

All it is, is a numbers game, the team from the larger markets will increase the tv ratings, the bigger the ratings the bigger the network can charge for commercials.

It's all about the Benjamins.

The game that will draw the biggest ratings and generate the most revenue gets the nod.

The teams are just as you put it...not as popular. ESPN is looking for ratings which lead to advertising dollars...t.v. is mostly about the bottom line.

They want ratings and those are the teams with them. I agree with you because I never see the Reds, either.

ADVERTISING! MONEY MONEY MONEY...that's what it's all about. NY and Boston are two of the largest markets in baseball, so they'll look for the market with the most people.
