Bush vetoes embryonic stem cell bill
DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON - Vetoing a stem cell bill for the second time, President Bush on Wednesday sought to placate those who disagree with him by signing an executive order urging scientists toward what he termed "ethically responsible" research in the field.

Bush announced no new federal dollars for stem cell research, which supporters say holds the promise of disease cures, and his order would not allow researchers to do anything they couldn't do under existing restrictions.

Announcing his veto to a roomful of supporters, Bush said, "If this legislation became law, it would compel American taxpayers for the first time in our history to support the deliberate destruction of human embryos. I made it clear to Congress and to the American people that."
Morals !!
laughing through my tears. It is okay to keep our troops in harms way to fatten the pockets of his buddies though, isn't it.

I wonder what would happen if he or his children got Parkinsons disease or a form of cancer that could be treated by the results of stem cell research. And because of his actions a cure was not available?

I also find it ironic that a man is talking about perserving life and "morals" when he is responsible for the deaths of thousands and thousands of adults over controlling oil in the middle east so people can drive their gas guzzling SUV's.

But there is justice in this. America will not have the benefit of stem cell research. Americans will suffer and die because of their stupidity in electing bush. It fits. Oh wait, it was the crooked Republican judges on the supreme ct who elected bush. Maybe they will get Alzheimers or Parkinsons or some other miserable disease and suffer for their evil.

No, he wants private research for embryonic stem cells, not Government funded. Yet another hit for runaway Capitalism at the expense of the American people.

No, he is not kidding. He would prefer that 500,000 pre-embryos be tossed into the trash can than let US tax dollars used on research of these pre-embryos to help people in need. He calls it murder to use them for research, but he thinks it's just house cleaning to toss them into the trash.

Heck, it would had been rich conservatives who benefit from stem cell research. They are so deficient in brains they need someone to grow some brains for them, and that's not cheap!

Well if you love to kill a innocent life, then of course you wouldn't be a moral person and wouldn't understand,

the more important question is do YOU know what an embryo is? a life. its a life.

your mom should have gave you up for stem cell research. at least you might have been used for something, not anything useful just used for something.

What does morals have to do with politics? Bush is a hypocrite. He is not a man of morals.

I agree that Bush isn't impressive as a president. But you Bush haters shouldn't get too ramped up about it being an idyllic world when he's gone. Most of the problems were here before him and government was corrupt and greedy and incompetent before him, and it will all still remain when he's gone.

Have you bothered to look at the morals of Kennedy, Pelosi, Reid, the Clintons, Edwards, and Obama? No prettier.
