Melons growing in our backyard are very round and fairly large. They are hard and their skin is varigated deep green stripes and soft green. Any idea what kind of melon this is?

If its not a watermelon then I suggest its a pie melon.It looks like a watermelon but it will never get ripe. They grow wild in some parts of Texas.

Definitely a watermelon, but sounds like a black diamond watermelon.

sounds like a watermelon... if its more circular then it might be a seedless one.. its its more oval then its a seeded one.. good luck!
