You will have to read the book to see what she means. In the darkest, cruelest of times there is still human goodness, you need to find some incidents that show what she is talking about.

Basically it's to do with the people she lived with in the Annex (well some of them anyway) and also the people who came and visited to bring them things even at great risk to themselves.

But you will have to read the book to get any sort of a satisfactory answer.
