I think you mean Gaelic. Most Irish people just speak English. I used to think they had a separate language too so don't feel bad. And no, I only speak English and remember hardly any of the 2 1/2 years of German I took in high school.

i can speak a little bit of irish, but not much and not very well. which is appalling considering that (like almost all irish people) i had irish classes since shortly after i started school at the age of around 5.

as for all those idiots who are saying that there is no irish language, or that its called gaelic, i suggest you do some research before you open your mouths and/or start typing answers. while there is a language called gaelic, its primarily spoken in scotland. "gaeilge" is "irish" as gaeilge though, if thats what you were thinking of.

There are 3 types of Gaelic. Scottish, Irish and Manse ( believe this is Welsh).

I dont speak any but do have a nice tattoo with a long sentence in Gaelic. Unfortunately, my source for the words were typical library so it is a mix of all three dialects. Most Gaelic speaking people would probably know what it say though.

well i did irish for 13 years and and i'm able to say "conas a ta tu" and some "focal" but other than that no!
