My bachelor's degree is in Theatre Arts. We were able to develop a resume based on our participation in the productions of the college. This enabled many students to obtain summer employment with different theatre companies. It was not just for acting.

It depends on a number of factors. I got an agent fresh out of acting school with no resume. They saw my performance and wanted me. So, if you go to an acting school which has performances that agents come to see - no, you don't need a resume. But generally speaking, it's a good idea to have some experience to put down on paper. Which means you need to get in some shows. How can you expect an agent to take you on as a client if they have no idea of your qualifications and talent level? They either need to see you in a show or have that resume to look at. OR, they might have open calls where you could go and do a brief monologue for them.

Where you live will also be a factor. In the high powered markets like NY, LA, Chicago, etc., you definitely need a resume - competition is much fiercer. In the south, however, the requirements are much less. And there's mostly non-union talent.

Yes, you need a resume, as well as 8x10 Black & White Headshots.

Talent Agents will NOT accept you, unless you have a resume. What can they do for you without having a copy of your resume?

The resume tells the Talent Agent and Casting Director, the roles you played. It also should have all of your skills and other talent listed on it.

You need a resume so the Talent Agent can provide a copy of it to the Casting Director.

If you do not have one, wait until you have one. The Agency will help you prepare a resume.

A professional Talent Agent will NOT represent you without a resume.

Not having a resume, makes you look unprofessional.
A legitimate Talent Agent does not have time to work with you if you don't have all of the tools necessary to become an actor.

Your résumé must be stapled to the back of your headshot.
The Casting Director needs to see your résumé, to know which roles you have performed.

It's the same with acting, your résumé is what you show to the agent, so he or she knows, which roles you played and at which theaters.

If you have never performed in plays. Do NOT try to get an agent.

Never call an agent to follow-up, it's rude and they won't work with you.

You need a headshot and résumé. Staple your headshot to your résumé. Mail your headshot/resume stapled, to the agent, in a large envelope ("8x10" size).

Well think of it this way, if u had a large resume u would want 2 show it right? An agent needs something to show casting directors and if u did get an agent u would need one then anyway, so why not be on top and ahead of the game cuz chances r if u walk in without a resume, u will be behind!

YES. You must have a resume to be represent by an agent. In fact, you must have a resume to get any acting role.

No, unless you are "discovered" an agency will not accept someone without a resume.

You will need a resume, headshot, possibly a composite, and if submiting by mail; a cover letter.

Good luck.

You need to have prior experience in the field to get a legitimate agent, so yes, you would need a resume. An agent won't hire anyone off the street who doesn't have experience, you have to prove to them you would be worth their while to represent.

There are agencies that will take people on the spot with promises of glory, and you need to watch out for them. They take your money and you receive very little work if any at all.

Actually, you need to be an actor to be represented by an agent. And actors have resumes. You can include school plays and classes when you are starting out.

Acting is lots of hard work. You have to study your craft, and market yourself, and face rejection, and be tenacious. And you have to bother to create some kind of resume, that highlights any relevant experience you may have.

I think you'll need a resume and some headshots.
