I believe the motor is around a 1964 and i need to purchase parts.

Go to iboats.com and get on the evenrude forum. Ol paw's motor boat is another good site. There are plenty of parts around for those old motors. NAPA carries all the points and coils and I think carb kits also. Try those two websites, they are good and they answer a lot of your questions.

take the Ser# with you to any dealer,and depending on what parts you are looking for they will be able to get you what you need.Just about every thing you would need,from engine rebuild,lower unit gears,bearings,tune up parts etc.are still standard stock items at most dealers and repair shops.

with boat that old parts are hard to find best if you just buy new motor/boat
