Let
r = normal hourly rate

40r + (46 - 40)(2r) = 572
40r + 12r = 572
52r = 572
r = 11

His normal hourly rate is $11 / hour.

Total counted hours = 40 + 6*2 = 52
normal hourly rate = 572 / 53 = $11

if he worked 46 hours that means he worked 6 hours extra so if he's paid double for that 6 hours, it's as if he worked 46+6 hours
so 52 hours... 572 $
572/52=11$/hour

He was paid double time for 6 hours & regular for 40 so he was paid for 40+6*2=52 hours
$572/52hrs=$11/hr

40x + 2*6*x = 572

so 52x = 572

then x = 11

Hope This Helps

we know that he works 46-40 = 6 hours overtime. We can say that one hour overtime = 2 hours normal so he does an extra 12 hours giving a total of 52 hours

572/52 = $11/hr
