Much of the time it is applied as an emulsion of fine teflon particles, perfloro-octanoic acid and other emulsifcation agents. This is sprayed or dip-coated, etc and heated to a high enough temperature to fuse the teflon particles into a coating. For some uses, such as frying pans etc where resistance to abrasion is required, they mix in stuff like glass nano-beads and similar materials to beef up the scratch resistance.

is teflon like plastic wrap. well i guess there is something in the teflon that makes it stick to the products. like if teflon has a negative charge, then the products have a positive charge. eh i guess my answer made no sense?
