Depends where you are and what kind of minor labour laws they have.
Some places, minor work restrictions are so strict that some employers (including restaurants) won't hire minors.
For most places, I'd say 16 years old. Some might hire younger, but i doubt it.
For example, I worked at a McDonalds in eastern Indiana 6 years ago. They hired 14 and 15 year olds, but they were legally not allowed to do several jobs (considered too dangerous). They also had very strict laws on how early and how late they could work and how many hours they could work without a break. After being threatened with fines a few times, management decided not to hire anyone else under 16.
Your best course of action:
Next time you eat at SubWay, ask how young they hire.

My husband manages a Subway and he will only hire age 16 and up due to the restrictions of hiring someone younger. Hope this helps!

When I called Subway to ask about a job (which, granted, was 6-7 years ago, so their policy may have changed) their minimum age was 16.
