Depends.

Are the pictures of minors?
Yes, you *could* face charges.

Do the images depict an unlawful act?
Depends on the laws in your jurisdiction.

If the images are of two adults engaged in consentual sex acts (and not engaged in what are considered unlawful sexual acts in your jurisdiction), then no.

There are also additional concerns mostly based on the user's age and jurisdiction.
Unfortunately, simply surfing the web practically guarantees you do have pornographic images on your hard drive, even if you don't deliberately surf porn.

It depends on your state's laws. In California the possession of pornography on your PC is not a crime in itself, unless the pictures individual is under the age of 18.
