Not all girls get PMS. When I started my periods they just happened, there was no emotional tension or stress, or even pain. I only started getting pains when I got older and my periods became a lot heavier.

But if you do get PMS, it's really not a big deal. You might be irritable for no apparent reason, or be easily upset by things that wouldn't normally bother you. But it doesn't last:)

First off, not every girl or woman gets pms symptoms. And It will take some time after you start having your period, to get a regular schedule going, for the most anyhow. But normally, if you were to have pms symptoms, it will come about a week to 2 days before your period, and ease up the day you actually start your period. During this time..its a good idea to remember, that its only hormones that are making you feel this way, and when u start to feel overwhelmed or cranky or teary eyed, just remeber its just your homones. Remember, not all girls get pms...

When I first got my period I didn't even know I was getting it. I didn't even know I was PMSing. I had some pretty painful cramps but I didn't think anything of it. But sometimes it hurt so bad I couldn't walk. And I spotted for about 3 days. I had no clue what it was in my underwear! I didn't expect it at all. At 12 your body is going through so many changes that mood swings may not be a sign of PMS for a first timer. Watch out for some cramps, discharge, and spotting...those are good clues for when you are going to start your period. Cramps will feel very painful and in your lower abdomen, lower than where your belly button is and it doesn't feel at all like a stomach ache.

I had my first period when I was 13 years old. I do not recall suffering PMS. But back than we did not had words for such things. We were raised in the good old German day's. However, I can somewhat remember having pains, cramping and heavy blood flow. it was almost unbearable going to school back than and do daily activities such as sports. Remember back than we had no tampons and pads . I am not sure what we used. LOL. Times sure have changed for the better.
