I HAVE GOT IT!!! first thing i would do is check to see if the strings were put on properly there is a chance that they are slipping, if you are not sure what i mean by slipping just take your bass to a local music shop and ask them if your bass strings are done properly and if there is a chance of this "slipping". Second, i would see if there is bending in your neck if so your screwed new necks seem to cost as much as an entire bass now days, best of luck, cheers

The kind of string makes a big difference on a bass. Flat Wound strings give that, dull, smooth bassy tone. Round Wound strings give a very bright, ringing tone, when new especially. After a couple of days of playing, the string will lose that metallic tone. Also, going to new strings may require a change in your EQ settings on you amp, and the tone knob on the guitar itself. I hope this helps you some.

Humidity consequences the neck each now and returned. the two the place that is saved had gotten without notice too moist or too dry. The frets are effected. i'm no longer a great guitar tech, I wish i advance into, yet I advise you get a dehumidifier and a humidifier to make a storage place to be precisely suitable. Kinda sounds out of your description that the frets rose up somewhat on your 0.33 be aggravating, yet genuinely, i want a guitar tech to assist me as i'm no longer great on the thank you to repair issues like this.

it could be a number of things. maybe its messing with your neck. i also suggest changing all the strings one at a time(because if you take all of them off at one time your neck will be all gay cause u alleviated too much tension) also when you change your strings boil them first. you get a better life out of them and usually they are more shiny.
