He really has no choice, he has at least two years left on his contract, he will be forced to play or Nike may drop him from his shoe deal for breach of contract, now he can sit out if he wants too, but only if he does not care about money and his image.

Bottom line, pro sports is a business. Kobe's biggest asset in this business is his value as a Basketball player, teammate, and representative of a Billion $ industry. If he wants his value to be at its highest, and for the public's opinion of him to stay at a level that will allow him to be considered an MVP, he will have to suck it up and play up to his capabilities. Just by his public outburts over the last month, he has potentially cost himself millions of $ in retail sales of his jerseys and other apparel, and has lost the Lakers some $ they could use to pay the luxury tax needed in order to get more talent. Not too many teams appreciate a primadonna that will do this to them (go ask T.O. how hard it was to get a contract done with a new team). Kobe is understandibly upset about not being as successful as he was when he had Shaq and Co. a few years ago, but he needs to sit down with the front office of the Lakers and discuss the franchise's direction towards success rather than embarassing everyone publicly. He can still be forgiven, and if he is, he should respect the fans and give them his full effort. After all, he did sign the contract that still has FOUR years on it, but only TWO until he can test free agency.

If Kobe is still in LA, he'll play, but I predict the Lakers will spiral into being about as bad as they were the season right after Shaq left. If you were on that team, would you want to play with Kobe after all that's been going on this summer? They'll never gel as a team.

Kobe is right now in a difficult place. But he still will try to play next year cause he has a reputation and a two-time defending champion. I think he is going to play completely different but he will still be a scorer nonetheless. I hope they don't trade him because without him, there is no team called the Lakers. But i believe his decisions and changes are correct. I believe Jerry West should be manager, I believe we need KG or Jermain O' Neal even though we wont get them. He is getting sick and tired or horrible players. Odom and Luke are the only other decent players. Everybody else pretty much suck at basketball. I am still going to be a Laker fan but i think he will stay and he will try next year.

Kobe is a professional. He may want out of LA, but he's not going to damage his career by not producing in games. I don't particularly like the guy, but he's no Terrell Owens.

That's simple if he wants to reamin the talk of L.A. then he'll play in L.A. or even any city for that matter it doesn't have to be California and plus don't forget he needs to pay off his home and cars right? So he needs to play weather the Lakers trade him or not.

He's gone!

When they say there is no trade, there will be a trade.

I wouldn't mind seeing a three for one trade.

The Lakers should trade Bryant, Bynum and Parker for Shaq.

Frankly, I don't give a damn other than hoping that wherever he plays, regardless of effort, his team loses. This would give him a whole extra month of offseason to whine and blitch.
