GCF means greatest common factor. A factor of a number N is a number a that can a multiplicative part of it, so that a*b=N with some other integer b.

For example, 4 is a factor of 20 because 4*5=20.

31 is a prime number, meaning it has no factors except itself and 31. This means that the GCF of 20 and 31 is 1, because it is the only factor they can have in common (31 is not a factor of 20, of course).

Yes. Since 31 is a prime number & 20 is not a multiple of 31, it is 1.

Exactly right. 31 is prime, so it shares no factors with 20 except for the trivial factor 1.
