I would like to answer this question with a song (listening to music and singing makes me feel very happy).

"Don't Worry - Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin

Here's a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't Worry - Be Happy

In every life we have some trouble
But when you worry you make it Double
Don't Worry - Be Happy
Don't Worry - Be Happy now
Don't Worry - Be Happy
Don't Worry - Be Happy

Ain't got no place to lay your head,
Somebody came and took your bed
Don't Worry - Be Happy

The landlord say your rent is late,
He may have to litigate
Don't Worry - Be Happy
Look at Me - I'm Happy
Don't Worry - Be Happy
Here I give you my phone number
When you worry call me, I make you happy
Don't Worry - Be Happy

Ain't got not cash, ain't got no style,
Ain't got no gal to make you smile
Don't Worry - Be Happy

'Cause when you worry your face will frown
and that will bring everybody down
Don't Worry - Be Happy
Don't Worry, Don't Worry - Don't do it
Be Happy - Put a smile on your face
Don't bring everybody down
Don't Worry, it will soon pass, whatever it is
Don't Worry - Be Happy
I'm not worried, I'm happy . . . .

Being happy is a state of mind so it's something you are. Having fun is something you do. Of course being happy sometimes comes easily and sometimes you have to work at it. So, I guess getting happiness in your life is something you do. But happiness itself is something you are and feel.

being happy is both.. to really become happy you have to do things to get yourself there... exercise, eat right, take care of yourself, you have to be a good person, and you have to love yourself. for a lot of us.. this is a huge change in what we are currently doing so it takes a lot of effort , so it would be something that you do, but once you are there and those things become just a part of your everyday life and then it becomes something that you are. Find a job you love and a place to live that you love.. but remember that if you don't love yourself than none of it will matter.

This is going to be a long one,

there are few views here, one is that happiness is an illusion to make you keeping chasing and looking forward to that ever elusive happiness. kinda like use a carrot to make a rabbit jump through a hoop. gives life some what of a meaning or purpose.

One is that happiness is that every fleeting moment which passes so quick that only when you reflect back later you realize that was a moment when you felt happy.

another is happiness is when you make your peace with yourself. when you learn to accept what you are. and then make peace with everything and everyone around you.

i personally feel, it is merely the absence of sorrow.

hope this helps!

It's something you are. It's a result of other things you do or have done to you. You can't just decide to be happy and put effort into it, you have to do things to become happy.

Being happy is something you choose to be. It can be both something you are if you choose that you are happy, and something you do if you choose to smile or something

Since what you do is part of who you are I would say that being happy is both. It's a choice of life.

i believe that being happy is an emotion... it's something you feel, based on something that you've experienced in your life... feeling content is being grateful for what you have, where you are, and with what you are, with the knowledge that you always need to grow and learn...

Being happy is something that you practice, then drives you to habit that makes you become sothing that you enjoy.
