i've had my period since christmas eve 2003 and when i turned 14 i started getting clots while i was on my period. not very big but idk what they are. today i had one that was the size of a quarter. but this was the only time it was that big. also i got my period last night. anyone know what that is?

Clots are very normal and can be bad enough that you may actually feel them passing through which is alarming the first time it happens. It is part of the lining you are shedding coming through. They definitly seem heavier at the begining of your period, and taper off by the end. Just got to grin and bear it, it's another fun part of being "female"!

I do believe its just your period. The reason you have a period is to shed the uterine lining, which I would think would have some clots. I get clots sometimes as well, pretty gross but perfectly normal! If you go to a fertility tracking web site, such as mymonthlycycles.com it asks you about clots in your blood, so I know it is normal!

That's natural. Blood that is stored longer tends to darken and become clots.

it could be clots of blood or simply clots of the lining of your uterus.
ask your doctor. some clots are normal. hope this helped. :]

because you're period comes from the uterine lining shredding(gross, i know) so the clots are tissue from that. nothing to worry about!

i clot all the time somtimes they are that big but i think you need to see a doc if they get bigger tan that

they just happend when u bleed especialy if u use tampons...just make sure u drink water that helped with my clots...
