Every birth control pill comes with a package insert that will tell you what to do if you miss a pill. If you threw out the insert, simply go to the website for the pill (or pill manufacturer) and they usually have the same info. Pills need to be taken at around the same time every day to be effective and reliable. Skipping pills or forgetting them can lead to pregnancy. Taking too many at once can mess with your hormones making you feel horrible. If you or your friend are having a hard time remembering to take a pill everyday, talk to your healthcare provider about other options that would work better for you.

Well, she can take more than one dose at a time, it's not too harmful, but she will be perfectly fine to just forget about catching up on that pill, throwing it out and continuing through the pack like normal. It'd probably be smart for her to back up her birth control with condoms, though, for the next week or two just in case.

You don't "catch up" when you miss a pill. If you remember within 12 hours of your normal time then it doesn't count as missed so take it as soon as you remember, but if it is over 12 hours then it is a missed pill. Thow it out, or leave it in the packet to remind you which day you missed it. Then take your next pill at your normal time. You also need to use a backup form of contraception (condoms) for the next seven days of active pills. If those seven days would take you onto the hormone-free sugar pills, then you need start a new packet of active pills instead of taking the sugar pills, and you will miss your period this month.

There's no "catching up" on taking BCPs. Your friend needs to take the rest of this cycle of pills as usual AND use a second form of birth control until she has her period and starts into her next cycle of pills.

I would recommend that she talk to her dr about this because there's a chance she's going to come up a day short by catching up on the other days. This could put her at risk for having a huge problem with breakthrough bleeding.
I had something like this happen to me not too long ago.

i do this all the time. it makes you very grouchy!! lol my hormones were UP than DOWN..needless to say when you do this you dont feel very well + the worry of getting pregnant!just tell her to take the last one she skipped today too. than she will be all caught up! dont take more than 2 in one day though! if you do accidentally skip one you should always take it the following night. you should ALWAYS use condoms or some other form of protection too.
