I could never find a link to that but based on my own experience in the US Army, I was in Military Intel, and the only soldiers I knew who were absolutely Republican, no question, were the Mormons who served and I imagine still serve today.

The ones I knew were some of the best soldiers I had ever had the pleasure of serving with. But TIGHT? It was hard to fathom most of the Mormons I served with. Good soldiers but not much of a sense of humor. Still they always voted Republican and were DANG (their word) proud of the fact.

At the time, I was Republican too, that was when Bush Elder was in the White House, not being Republican in the Military then was like saying you WANTED Uncle Sam to defund your job.
Being "Republican" was not a full time occupation then. We voted that way, but the lives of single soldiers were not filled with what you might call "Family Values". We had a female SGT in Germany who had an extra wall locker in her barracks room, FILLED with cuffs, whips, all kinds of crazy sex toys and
she wasnt afraid to show you how she liked to use them.
Another female showed up at my room the day I got there, because she was very tall for a female and like d"being with" tall guys. She had heard about the new PFC who had just arrived (me) and how tall I was (6'4") and we dated for a while.
I walked into another barracks room one time and there were at least 9 people in a nekkid jumble on the floor. I wish they had portable vidcameras then I woulda made a fortune selling "GIs Gone Wild" videos. Instead, I became number 10.

(5 gals and 5 guys, can't get much more Democratic than that)

*Sigh* Errr, what was the question again? OH YEAH...

However, after the service, I and many of the vets I still keep in contact with are pretty much all Democrats now. I guess it has to do with "growing up".

All that we need to be concerned about with respect to our troops is whether or not they are honoring their oath to follow the orders they are given.

Putting them in the middle of the present political debate as the GOP has been doing for years and as John Edwards did this past Memorial Day, is inappropriate and only serves to divide our nation. As long as our nation is divided we cannot hope to successfully wage war or win peace.

I do not believe you will find a website stating that, but take my word that most military members are conservative.

Unlike an above answer, there is no brainwashing. If anything we are encouraged to formulate our own opinions and ideals. The only exception is that those cannot openly go against the UCMJ.
Again unlike another above answer, you may be suprised at how many of us military members that pay attention to the things that happen in the government.
To agree with an above answer, just ask Gore which votes he wanted to deny even though he and his camp were screaming 'Count every vote'...(except the absentee military)

It is daily lifestyle and walking in our shoes that makes us more conservative.

The only possible basis I can came up with for this assumption is: Military have to respect the Commander in Chief, follow his orders and never question his orders. They almost have to be conservative to think like this and not speak out. Military are taught to respect the rank and uniform even if they do not respect the man.

There is no such link. Their commanders, brain-washers and Pentagon bosses who all favor conservative Republican military deficit spending don't allow them to think or speak for themselves.

No link exists. Our troops are interested in performing their jobs plus their family, love life, hometowns and sports. Politics isn't on their radar screen.

It's just common knowledge and a fact.
Ask Al Gore!!!!!
Al Gore sued to keep the Military Vote from counting in Florida. The Democrats All supported him. You think the military doesn't know that Democrats hate them????
(I thought Everyone knew this.)

They are, accept it.

PS. Most of you here that answer, yet have not served know nothing about the military, so why even answer at all. Military people tend to be extremely patriotic with a very clear picture of right and wrong and the ability to think on their feet and tell the difference. They are conservative by nature. To the ones who believe we don't care about politics, the basic military person votes more often than his civilian contemporary, and its a fact of nature. Its 75% or better, Conservative .... Period!
