How do you contact someone's ISP? For example, if I have a hacker on my site, how do I contact that users ISP?

Besides actually calling a number, can't I just simply e-mail someone or submit the IP adress to a site without getting into all that legal stuff?

If you know the ISP name

You could try emailing something like...

abuse@exampleISP.com
admin@exampleISP.com

Or do a WHOIS on the name of the ISP from

http://www.whois.net/

Good Luck

Go to this website and enter the IP address.

http://www.domaintools.com/reverse-ip/

From there you can find the company information who owns the IP address. Call their tech department and ask to speak to the "IP Manager". Explain the situation. He'll need your server logs showing the attack(s). If you deleted the logs, he won't do a thing about it.

He'll help you if it's true in order to prevent a lawsuit by you. If he acts without proof, he can be sued by the hacker.

If you already deleted the logs, hang out and hope not too much damage is done but let the hacker continue to build the log of his/her attacks.

Hope this helps, and I hope you catch the bugger.

By the way, if you want the hacker's name, address and phone number, just ask and if they won't cough it up, threaten to sue, and if that doesn't work, threaten to call CNN, CNBC, FOX, NY Times and whoever else you can think of. Suddenly they'll give you the info.

Look up their IP address, and you will see the person's ISP.

Just go to the site for the ISP, and look for something about "Contact Us"

If you have their ISP number, you can trace it at a couple of different websites...
