Ok Im really embarrasses in asking this mainly because Im a biology major. But I recently moved into an apartment bymyself and am freaking myself out. Its been going on now for the last week or two. I will wake up in the middle of the night and hear noises or voices. Sometimes I wake up and feel like something is watching me. At first I dismissed all this crap as my imganation. But about 3 days ago a 3am I woke up hearing noises in my kitchen sounded like someone walking around so I grabed my knife and ran in there thinking someone had broken in. But there was no one there and a cabinet door was open which is unlike me. But being a biologists I cannot accpet that "ghosts" are doing this. Another time I was watching a movie and I had my computer on standby I heard a noise in my room went to check it out and my comp was back on. Finally last night at 3AM I wake up hear a noise and find out the shower is on! Now Im like WTF! Is there a scientific explanition for this or not?

I am glad that you asked for a scientific explanation I am here to offer it. First of all I would say the least likely explanation is that its a Ghost. There is no scientific basis for Ghosts so lets move that aside for now. After Exhausting all the options you may decided to consider it a Ghost. I think that after you have Exhausted all the options you will see it is probably not a ghost. First in your waking up with the feeling of someone watching you. This indicates a possibility of sleep paralysis or a waking dream. You may even be at some points sleep walking. Sometimes during a waking dream or sleep paralysis people think they are awake and experience being awake without actually being awake. I have suffered from it in the past and can say I know where you are coming from if this is the major cause. It can be brought on by high stress situations and a lack of sleep so ask yourself if you have had that problem.
With that part solved. You may also have a bit of a mouse problem or other pest infestation. You may be hearing voices from a TV left on in an adjacent apartment. Or people talking in an adjacent apartment. What you really need is some Data. Try to leave a tape recorder on. If the voices are saying "get out or die" it may be a ghost. If its gripe about a day at the office probably not a ghost. Next set up a camera and try to get some video of the phenomena. If a mouse knocks something over it should be obvious. If a ghost floats through and knocks something over it should be equally obvious. If its something psychological seek treatment. Try to remember the simplest explanations are probably true. Ghosts are an easy solution to jump to but there is to much of the fantastical that would have to be true to allow that explanation. Good Luck

The cabinet door and the pc are more than likely caused by rodents. Unless you have a cat, you didn't say so I would think not. As for the shower that might be caused bay a flucation in the water pressure. I know that will cause new toilets to run some times.

Either there is really something going on, or you are imagining it. If you are imagining it, I suggest you talk to a medical professional. If there is actually someone repeatedly breaking into your house, it should not be hard to catch them in the act. However, I seriously doubt anyone would break in to turn on your shower, rather than to steal something.
Open cabinets and hibernating computers are not good evidence that someone besides yourself was there.
It barely needs mentioning that ghosts are pure fantasy; they don't exist, period.

There could be a few reasons why these things are happening. #1-It is possible that there are ghosts that are haunting you. It maybe that you are in a strange surroundings that you are not used to and the.... are trying to scare you. Or #2-It could be that someone--who is very tricky with your door is sneaking in to your place and doing things to make you uncomfortable. Do not be alarmed. You have to make sure that no one is trying to make things bad for you since you just moved in to your apt. The next thing to do is to have a roommate and see if they will help you to feel more at ease. God does not want us to be alone. You are confiding in someone now about this so that is the first step to feeling in control of the situation. If the doors are al locked and things are still happening then it is kosher to have someone look out for you during the night to see if it is an intruder. But if not then it is God keeping things interesting for you. Stay on track with your studies. Biology is your studies, HE works with people in their expertise and tests them to see just how smart they are. So what you need to do is to make sure that you are biologically healthy where it counts the most---in your head. Someone/thing is playing mind trips with your head. So stay alert in your head. I know that you need your rest. Maybe you are over-working yourself and need to rest so that you can concentrate on the tasks at hand. The mind can play tricks on you when your mind has had a lot of work to do. Get some exercise, fresh air and good food and trust that God is with you at all times. this should help!! Good luck and God Speed.

You probably have a mouse in your kitchen and a leaky faucet. There are thousands of possible explanations, and no need to resort to paranormal ones. You're probably just seeing coincidences where there are none. Get some mouse traps.

I don't believe in ghosts either, but just because I have never met one doesn't mean they are IMPOSSIBLE.
I think if I had your experience, I might be concerned too.
If moving is your easiest solution, it may be worthwhile.
Sometimes, changing your environment to defeat a problem it is the wisest form of self defense.

Wow... have you ever seen shows about people being haunted. Your story sounds like one of them. Maybe you should get out of there. I'm gessing that your apartment is pretty old. I can't think of an scientific explanation for these events.

I'd find another apartment. Sounds like you do have something going on where you're at. I wouldn't fool around with it.
