Closing the eyes is a sign of trust and when you kiss with closed eyes your saying,"I love and trust you." Closing the eyes also gives you a better opportunity to feel what you love without distraction.

Don't ask me why, I am not a good kisser because i don't like kissing-well on the basis of my life experience. The only time i have my eyes closed was that first kiss from first boyfriend. After that I never really knew the meaning of kissing but to push the kisser away. Kidding.
Serious;ly i don't know why.

For all the reasons mentioned previously--
1 Hard to focus that close
2 Easier to focus on the kissing part
3 Your other senses are heightened
4 There is some unwritten etiquette about it
5 For some it makes it more romantic

But for me, I like to peek either with one or both eyes, and when I catch the other person peeking at the same time, it's funny.

And yes to the person who asked the question is why do we kiss....Why don't we rub elbows instead? And I think the answer to that is (albeit Freudian in nature) that we taste with our mouths, there are lots of nerve endings there, the tongue is a strong muscle, it makes it more difficult to talk when you kiss, but not more difficult to communicate, you take in a lot of the other person's scent when you kiss them, it reverts you back to a more infantile state where what you want to experience you put in your mouth, and it is a metaphorical and literal foretaste to "other things"...and I could go on and on....

I think the most important thing is that we kiss, with eyes wide open or closed. xxoo

Closing your eyes while kissing really depends on who you are, how old you are and where you are.

If you were kissing a woman not your wife or not your girlfriend then therefore you wouldnt want to close your eyes just to keep guard.

If you were in the middle east where men kiss each others in greeting, I wonder if they close their eyes?

If you were in you first kiss I doubt you close your eyes the first few seconds then close it in awe of the new experience.

Why do people kiss, with their eyes closed, you asked. My guess is to feel the emotion that courses through our body, when we kiss.

The same reason you close your eyes when you take a large scrumptious helping of ice-cream. It amplifies the taste/touch sense.

Besides, when two people kiss, they can't see anything except blurry details on someone else's face anyway.

Because the best moments in life are unseen.
Thats why we close our eyes when we kiss, cry, and dream.

It's just natural...you're closing your eyes so you heighten the sense of taste and touch when you do. It's better that way...and yeah, kinda romantic and very 'traditional'...you'd be a total FREAK if you didn't...but then again, if you find someone who doesn't like closing their eyes, then BINGO! You've found a match!
