In my town, the local Boy Scout troop collects computers from companies who are just going to throw them away. They recycle them for 5¢ a pound. If you want to pay 10¢ per pound they'll sell you whatever you want. I can go in there with a screwdriver, build myself a Linux workstation, use all the RAM it'll hold, put 3 hard drives in there and whatever else I can find for about $5. It's like Christmas!
Check with your local Chamber of Commerce and ask if there are any non-profits who recycle computers. Then go there with the mind of a vulture, strip those things dry of all the good parts and spend pennies doing it.
As for free? Steal the RAM. Don't get caught or it'll cost a lot more than just buying the RAM.

In my the city, the community Boy Scout troop collects computers from businesses who're purely going to throw them away. They recycle them for 5¢ a pound. in case you desire to pay 10¢ consistent with pound they'll sell you some element you desire. i will bypass in there with a screwdriver, build myself a Linux laptop, use the whole RAM it is going to maintain, placed 3 tough drives in there and a few element else i will come across for greater or less $5. it quite is like Christmas! verify mutually which includes your community Chamber of commerce and ask if there are any non-earnings who recycle computers. Then bypass there with the strategies of a vulture, strip those concerns dry of the whole properly aspects and spend pennies doing it. As freed from value? scouse borrow the RAM. don't get caught or it is going to cost significantly better than purely buying the RAM.

I seriously doubt it. It's not like RAM is terribly expensive now-a-days anyway. You can a full GB ram stick for well under $100.

Its possible but unlikely, best way is to shop around and look for good deals. Check pricewatch.com--they usually have good deals on pc parts.

no, RAM is part of your computer, its hardware, not software
but you can go to
www.tigerdirect.com
and you can BUY sticks of ram quite cheap, they will deliver to your house, but you have to put them in the computer yourself of course :)
