Will there be any difference in performance if I will run ATI 1900GT in PCI-E 8X mode vs 16X? I dont really think there will be any difference at all but I want to be sure. I am looking for cheap motherboard and I found one but its PCI-E slot runs in 8X mode. I will be using this with AMD 64 X2 3800+ CPU.

It will cut the bandwidth in half, which is not a good thing, it means you will be able to push half as much data. It will most likely not cut performance entirely by half, but still an unnecessary cut in performance. Here is an $80 motheboard that will give you full PCI-E x16:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130119 I really wouldn't mess with anything cheaper than that, you don't want to skimp on the motherboard.

Check again, PCI Express Cards run at 16x and AGP cards run at 8x. it could be an AGP slot.

If its a PCIExpress card running at 8x then the performance of the cad will be limited. Games will run slow due to the overall bandwidth reduction. I support you to go for any other Motherboard with 16x specification.

Hmmm--if it works in that mode--theoretically you should get half the performance as the 16x mode.
