Pseudo-science is, at its core, business. It involves taking a scientific concept/idea and then promoting an extremely emotional angle on that topic to "hook" an audience. Eventually, but never right up front, there will be these great opportunities to buy t-shirts, CDs, DVDs, or join the "----- Society". Another angle is to make something that is patently NOT scientific appear to be, do the same thing to get an audience, and eventually cash in.

There are LOTS of examples: The Bermuda Triangle, Ghosts, Atlantis, and I even include recent trend in so-called Intelligent Design. My favorite is the "work" by Swiss author Erik Von Daniken, and his whole "Ancient Astronauts" thing.

Bottom line, pseudo-science practitioners are not dumb, and the really good ones can (and generally do) make a ton of $$$.

Pseudoscience is a knowledge or a belief that claims to be science but DOES NOT follow the scientific method.

For science to be real and credible at all it must follow the scientific method.

Pseudoscience generally refers to a practice that claims to be scientific but doesn't follow the rules of scientific method. That is the testability and repeatability of any methods used.

An example of a pseudoscience is Phrenology, the study of the topography of the scalp in order to identify chracter traits. Homeopathy is another one.
