It is definetly is individual. My mom has a colleague that believe it or not, sleeps only 4 hours and feels fine. I usually during the school year (I'm 14) get 6-7 hours and make up for it on the weekend by sleeping 10-14 hours. During the summer i get 9-10 hours unless i have camp, where i get 6-7 hours.
My mom says that your mom doesn't really care about how many hours you get, she just wants to get rid of you by sending you to bed :D (my mommy is laughing her head off and told me she was just joking)

Teens actually need more sleep than adults. Mainly because of the changes in hormones and growth spurts. A minimum of 8 hours is required and some teens need up to 10 hours a night.

first of all, 8 hours is the recommended amount of sleep for most people, but that doesn't mean that's what you need. If you want the actual amount of sleep that you need you would have to ask your doctor. and second, you're 15, you shouldn't be "confronting" your mother about anything. I'm 18 and if I talk back to my mom she gives me a hard slap to put me back in place. I swear, little girls are so spoiled these days.
Go read a book or something and stop bothering your mom.

I am 14 and I usually sleep 7-9 hours. We actually learned this in physical education. You would need around 7-8 hours. Our teacher told us as you get older your hours cut down, which I think is very strange because everyone should sleep at least 7 hours in my opinion.

Because you are still growing, developing and learning you need more than the average adult. 8 to 10 hours is what the average teenager needs to function at optimum levels during the day.
Also don't forget to eat plenty of fruit and veg and ALWAYS eat breakfast! Snack a few times during the day (keep it healthy and small) between meals. This will ensure you have the energy you need. Fuel your body darl!! And it will stay healthy for longer.

Every teen usually sleeps at least 10 hours a day sometimes more. It all depends on you and how you feel. By going to bed earlier, you will be feel better in the morning for school but other than that sleep when you want and how long you want during summer vaction.
