I don't think he'll be traded. The Lakers don't need to trade him cuz there is FOUR more years on his contract, but TWO more before he can opt out. This gives the Lakers another season to play with and still get something for Kobe if they decide to trade next summer. If they do keep him, I don't think Kobe would lower his trade value, or integrity for that matter, by tanking this upcoming season. From one die hard Lakers fan to another, I say that overall what we should be concerned with is the integrity and aura of the franchise being negatively effected. Superstars will come and go, and though Kobe may be the biggest of them all, the Lakers organization will be around long after Kobe retires. What bothers me is that none of the other superstars have really questioned the Lakers organization, and have all retired here, except Shaq. Baylor, West, Chamberlain, Kareem, Magic, Worthy all came to the Lakers and never left. BTW, they all won championships, and most of them under the ownership of Dr. Jerry Buss. The difference here is that players salaries nowadays are a bigger portion of the revenue pie of an organization, so their opinions weigh heavily in terms of the direction of the franchise. Also, through free agency and a league that allows franchises to operate even though they are only focused on making money rather than winning, this allows players to have "ways out" of the situation they are given. The Spurs have become what the Lakers used to be; the place all VETERAN players wanted to come to for a ring. Kobe should understand that even though he is the biggest part of the franchise, he is not bigger than the franchise, and needs to work with the front office, not against it. He signed a big long-term contract that obviously works against the salary cap, and for a little less the Lakers could have financed more talent. Does he understand that Tim Duncan makes $8 million less/year than he does? That salary difference alone pays for Ginobli and Michael Finley. It could have paid for Baron Davis' contract. The Lakers are also at fault for not putting the right pieces to the puzzle. They got rid of Caron Butler for Kwame Brown. They did not trade Andrew Bynum for Jason Kidd. They lost out to Sacramento for Ron Artest. They did not actively pursue Baron Davis or Carlos Boozer. Best case scenario is to keep Kobe because there is no fair trade value out ther besides Tim Duncan, D Wade, LeBron, and those teams aren't giving those players up. Then you surround him with a quality Big Man like Jermaine O'Neal, or if its financially capable, Kevin Garnett. Go out and pursue a defensive point guard like Jason Kidd, or draft a guy like AC Law out of Texas A&M. Besides Luke Walton & Rony Turiaf, everyone is expendable as trade bait.

Nah!

Kobe's $35 million a year only leaves about $15 million a year for the other 14 Lakers on the 15 man roster under the current NBA salary cap rules before the "luxury tax" kicks in.

I don't think any other team will want to take on Kobe's $35 million salary while many other teams would want Kobe for the NBA maximum under the salary cap of $18 million a year.

I mean would Kobe take a 50% pay cut after almost 10 years of making $35 million a year?

How many people in the "real world" would voluntarily take a 50% pay cut if they were making more money than everyone else?

I mean I don't think that Jordan ever made more than $3 million a year with the Bulls because Jordan was already making well over $30 million from Nike alone not to mention his other endorsements. Jordan told Bulls management to spend their money to get the best group of players to surround him so Jordan could win NBA championships.

Kobe hasn't and never would have won a NBA championship without Shaq while Shaq has won a NBA championship without Kobe.

Point proven by both Michael Jordan and Shaq on how to win NBA championships.

Judging from previous history, every time a good participant is going into the front workplace and says he needs to be traded, he ussually gets what he needs. Kobe Bryant is an exceptionally influencial guy up there in l. a., he controlled to persuade the l. a. administration to throw away a destiny NBA hall of famer in Shaq. All im asserting is that Kobe Bryant is the main important , maximum influencial participant interior the NBA , and if Kobe needs to pass to a different team he will pass to a different team.Kobe Bryant is a guy this is used to engaged on his very own. If he see's the l. a. administration no longer advertising him interior the close to destiny, I wouldnt positioned it previous him to pass as much as ball golf equipment himself and convince communities that he's the spectacular element for that distinctive ball club. beforehand the subsequent season starts off Kobe will no longer be a laker. i'm a Laker fan and have been considering some conceivable scenarioes, Kobe says he decide for to pass to chicago suited? so shall we are saying that theres a particular participant commerce between the bulls and the laker which incorporate Kobe. the lakers could probable get luol deng, Isiah thomas and could be waiting to land Kirk Hinrich, in accordance with who else is going to chicago from the lakers. Paired with a coach like Phill Jackson those adult males may be waiting to win a championship in some years. I dont understand approximately you, yet i could pass and notice that instruct.

Mark my words, Kobe will not be traded. There is no team, except maybe the Suns, who would have enough pieces to trade enough quality players and not take a big enough loss to still be contenders. Furthermore, why would the Lakers trade in their conference to get beat in the playoffs by Kobe?
Besides the Suns hate Kobe, and want to stay beneath the cap.

Kobe sells tickets. Its obvious to everyone.

But so far, Kobe has been talking smack about L.A. and I know many Lakers fans will end up not buying tickets if Kobe stays.

If Kobe stays, he will probably not even care about playing anymore until a move is done. Tough decision for the Lakers.

He sells tickets, he is an outstanding player, but he doesn't wanna play there anymore and he's not getting along with his team mates so yea. He will be gone out of L.A soon.

who cares, I don't like him anyway.
Can anyone say attitude adjustment?
He's nothing more than a cry baby, ball hog, and punk.
He had plenty of opportunities to win championships with all the talent he had around him. he wanted the ball more, and he wanted certain people off the the team. He got what he wanted so now he should retire there. Don't come crying now because you cant win a championship....
He should stick to what he knows, white women in Colorado hotel rooms... LMAO!

If Kobe stays, he simply MUST restructure his contract so quality supporting cast can be afforded. Otherwise you'll see more of the last 3 selfish years.
