It's because you are a good and sweet person and don't want to be the bad girl and disappoint people by saying no. So instead you'd rather do things for people that you really don't want to do in order to please them or make them happy or even to stay in good favor with them. You're a lot like I am except that I'm a guy.

I am not American, I assume you mean a person from the United States of America, and know that these words are well understood by English speakers. Besides the misspelling of lightweight you err in assuming that Americans would not understand these English words even though they spell one of them differently. Misdemeanour (UK) and misdemeanor (USA): Encarta Dictionary, (UK) English defines its meaning in the United States and before 1967 in England and Wales as being a crime less serious than a felony and resulting in a less severe punishment. Felony: Encarta defines it to mean a serious crime with the notation that formerly in England and Wales, and currently in the United States, a serious crime such as murder that is punished more severely than a misdemeanour. The severity of the crime is reflected in the penalties imposed under the law. To use the terms lightweight and heavy gives it a weight not severity meaning: Stealing a light object or a heavy one; just not done my friend. You cause me to wonder why a some one learning a language would presume to tell the native speaker how it should be done because the non speaker does not yet fully understand the language. This would be like me suggesting that not all Japanese understand the Japanese symbols so they should change them to ones I understand.

There is so much meaning behind that one little word.
It can mean strength, or weakness. I can break a heart, or maybe even mend it. It can do so many things, and you never know what exactly the outcome will be once you say it. It's the ultimate word of risk. People react in so many ways to the word no. Saying it means that you are strong, and know where you stand. Sometimes people respect that, sometimes people can't handle that. You never know what a person's reactiong might be. Hell, sometimes you don't know what your own reaction will be once you've said it. It's one complicated word....

Because there is a part of us that always seeks approval, and when we say "No", we are afraid of the disapproval.
We do not want to seem uncaring, unwilling, uncooperative or just plain selfish. Saying no makes us think that the world will view us differently, in an unsavory light.
This is largely self recrimination, but then, we are often are own worst enemy.

you know i think its is because the ones that make it so hard to say are really sensitive, and do not like to disappoint people, or the feeling knowing that you can but you do not chose to. i think that the ones that can not say no are the ones often used by insensitive people. i know sometimes its hard for me but when i know i do not want my conscience to get the best of me i do not even think about it twice. good question!

Because of how harsh it sounds, or you don't want to hurt someone, etc. Like screaming no at someone can sound so mean, but saying no to a question can sound nice! okay...i think?
