What cichilds can i have in my new 3ft and a bit tank (900mm long)?

tell me different combos of fish

how many yellow labs can i have on their own?
then also how many electric blues and how many yellow labs together

so can i have 4 fem johanni 1 m johanni and 5 yellow labs?
what sex would the yellows have to be?

If you are good at keeping stable water parameters, get some Shell Dwelling Cichlids! They max out at 3 inches (and those are the big ones), are very colorful, and they have great personalities. It wouldn't really matter how you distributed these guys as long as you had about 2 shells per fish at first. After each fish stakes out its own shell, you can remove the uninhabitted ones.

You can have about 10 Yellow Labs if you are good at maintenance.

Electric blues come in two forms - Melenochromis Johanni (mbuna), and Hap. Fryeri (haplochromis). It's always good to use the real fish name to avoid confusion.

Figure on groups of 5 each of Johanni and Yellows.(remember that female Johanni are yellow too and only males are blue, and you can only have one male).
OR
You can figure on a trio of Fryeri along with 5 or so Yellows.

This is an estimate - these fish live extremely well in crowded conditions, but the real question remains on how good you will be at maintaining the tank, and how good of a filter you have.

sounds like about 45 gallons. I have raised Texas ciclids, red devils, oscars, green terror, and smallmouth bass in a tank this size. Just as the fish get bigger, you won't be able to have as many fish. When my smallmouth got about 12" he took over the tank. All I could keep with him was a plecostamus.
