He'd rather laugh all the way to the bank, Bush always was an oil-man. Oh, didn't know that? He has been in the oil business for years, any question as to why we're at war in an area of high oil production. HHHMMM, ever hear of Halliburton? ...in the oil market, during the "Gulf War" and made a fortune. God knows how much they have made in the last few years, their affiliation you might ask, Would you happen to know of a Dick Cheney? HHHMMM.
I believe during the last quarter reporting that it was stated that an oil company had "record profits, more than any other company in North American history." (check Shell , Exxon & Mobil) Still need me to connect more dots? Do a littlle reseach on these things, sort through the propaganda and see the truth.

Gas was more expensive during Jimmy Carter's presidency, though a month ago it did break that record (when you adjust for inflation).
Gas really isn't that expensive. Compare it to coffee from Starbucks, milk, soda(which costs very little to make), bottled water, etc. We don't ***** about Coke, Pepsi, or the local coffee shop from "gouging" us but we ***** about companies that:
Find the oil in the Earth.
Pump it out of the ground.
Transport it 1/2 way around the Earth.
Refine it.
Pump in to a local distribution center.
Truck it to your gas station.
Pump it into your tank.
And pay 50 cents in federal tax and 20 to 50 cents in local taxes.
So they make 8 cents per gallon in profit on average.
Maybe your question should be, why do Americans ***** so much about something that really doesn't cost all that much?

Take in account inflation gas is still a great bargin.
Liberals want higher gas prices because they are worried about global warming.
You want the reason why it is so high here it is:
1. People don't want refineries being build in their back yard.
2. Nobody want to drill off the coast of FL or CA or where the oil is outside of the Middle East.
3. Nobody wants to build the power plants coal, nuclear, and natural gas yet want all the electrical power.
4. Don't want power lines to bring the power in.
5. Kenndy's don't want wind farm in their neighborhood but everyone else must have them.
6. People want to fly around in private jets to promote global warming scares.
7. DNC think each deserves their own private jet
That should be a enough for you to start thinking about.

bush doesnt control the price of gas, however 50 cents per gallon goes to the government in the form of taxes while 8 cents goes to the oil companies. why in the world do the democrats , who control taxes, let this happen.

I know that You are angry with your administration about gas prices. I Live in a rural part of the Scottish Borders(U.K.) it costs (20.6.07) 97.9 pence a litre(3,7) litres to a gallon. So who is being ripped off there.

It probably doesn't have anything to do with environmentalists lobbying against and pretty much shutting down domestic drilling and exploration. Or environmentalists shutting down production of domestic refineries so foreign countries have to make our gasoline for us. Couldn't be that because then liberals would be to blame. So I know for sure that's not it.

No. Watch the news we already know. I would like for him to address the lack of refineries . . . but I'm not sure if this falls into the realm of his responsibilities.
