Well, I wouldn't recommend a 1 gallon bucket as a permanent set-up, but the rest of the answer is right - they aren't picky. I've got a 2.5 gallon filtered tank of feeders that I keep for a snake I own, and I've bred them in a 10 gallon tank. It's not that hard to do. Here's a site with some general info if you want to try it: http://www.fishinthe.net/html/section-viewarticle-55.html

They can deal with any kind of water. They are very hardy fish and I have heard some people say they are related to flat head minows found in streams in eastern PA. I have raised rosey reds in every thing from 50 gallon tropical tanks wit groumis, guppys, and other non aggresive fish to a 1 gallon bucket of water.

with the aid of fact the known of your fish's existence isn't in the equation why are you even bothering to ask? definitely, no you should no longer domicile minnows and goldfish in an identical tank with the aid of fact minnows like sturdy currents and fancy tails can not cope with sturdy currents for obvious motives. Feeders are hardy in the event that they stay and are quarantined long adequate to rebuild their immune equipment and shed any parasites or ailment they are going to contain. they are able to stay with goldfish albeit I see them greater with commons and different longer bodied goldfish. So, no longer impossible, yet provided that's a huge around oranda and it does no longer take exhilaration in a powerhead tossing it approximately, and the tank is rather too small for shoaling fish, i might ought to assert that's a bad theory.

if you have a filter that works, you will be fine. These are small fish, so if you don't overfeed them, the tank conditions should be fine.
