I've been looking for cork materials (sheet, board, tile) to use as backing for a dartboard as well as to protect the surrounding wall space, but have yet to find anything that is 0.5 inch in thickness. Ideally, it is 36"x36" and thick enough that can absorb stray darts. I've tried stores like HomeDepot, Staples, Target, JoAnn, Michael's..., etc, and they only have thin ones (~1/8 inch). Any suggestions or other ideas will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

(BTW, my budget for it is $20-30.)

You can use spray glue to layer 4 of them together. Contact cement would also work.

Where are you? If you are in Seattle, I've got some I can give you!

You aren't likely to find half inch cork. We buy a self-healing cork in wholesale quantities where I work, and it is about 0.25". You may have to layer your cork. Cork is now a very popular flooring material. You can find square tiles at flooring stores and on line. Just search "Cork tile" and you'll hit paydirt on the www.

Linoleum glues are generally good to use for applying cork.

I bought half inch thick cork from Discount Auto Parts. It is used to make gaskets but it comes in a roll 12"x36"

You can try stacking them ontop of each other and putting a rubber type glue to hold them together.
