"Write what you know" is usually a good answer. However, e-books are a BUSINESS proposition more than a literary one. So a better answer is "Find a need and fill it."

Writers DO ask others for ideas from time to time. I have published close to two million words and I still search for ideas once in a while.

There is an old saying that goes something like this "Write what you know."

But, generally speaking, writers do not have to ask others what to write.
