If it smells funky, toss it. Out of date polish probably won't cause any major health hazards but it may stain your nails.

Don't add perfume - the oils won't blend in & won't cover up the smell. You'll just be wasting the perfume & making the polish smell weirder.

The best I can say is try and add some nail polish thinner, sold at your local beauty supply. But there are chemicals that you have no clue about in nail polish. So if the label says toss it then toss it. Yes it could hurt your nails, you could get a fungus under your nails that is extremely hard to kill. My mom used expired polish and it took 2 years with medication to get rid of the fungus.

Nail Polish goes bad. Your better off tossing it out. If you wear it, it will most likely chip and the color might not be as nice anymore either. Time to invest in some new Polish! Have Fun! :)

I have really OLD nail polish and I still use it as long as it is not clumpy and goes on smooth. I don't have any problems with it. If it gets clumpy or won't mix up any longer, I toss it. It has never caused me any health problems with my nails.

I don't think you should take the risk. Mabey you should just buy new nail polish.
Don't put perfume in it, it might get even worse

Just throw it out. You wouldn't want to risk a nasty nail infection. Besides, polish is inexpensive. Just get another bottle. Good luck.

I second the refrigerator idea. My mom has tons of nail polishes...all in the fridge where the eggs should be. :) I didn't have room in my fridge so mine have gone clumpy.
