The Longest yard (original) is in my opinion the best football movie of all time. If you watch all of the football comedies since, they use the same scenes and similar dialogue. This alone is a credit to the innovative quality of this movie. When countless productions pay homage to something, it cannot go unnoticed.

i hate to be the sad one but its gotta be "Friday Night Lights" since the football conditions were more realistic than those in "Remember the Titans". No team just finishes winning a game then goes on to say that they are not sure if they will win the next week. After winning a game, ANY team feels invincible.
