I am not a racist, but I am sick of these double standards.
This girl wore a black power symbol over an image of Africa on stage and broadcasted by NBC.
If a white guy wore a similar shirt but advertising white power he would have been censored and all over the news.

This symbol is most certainly a racist symbol just as the swastika and confederate flag are. Saying to wear this is uplifting to the Black community is ignorant.
Black Power adherents believed in racial separation, black nationalism, and the necessity to use violence as a means of achieving their aims. Off shoots of this belief include the "Black Supremacy" group.

Did you not get the memo darlin?
Symbols and ideas supporting prejudice are tolerated in this country provided you are not white. Those who have the power and media attention do not have the balls to call out minorities (or their own people) who display such racial images, while they do have the lack of common sense to call out white folks who are very proud without any prejudice motive in their pride, as well as the selfish hypocrisy to attempt to speak innocently of the racial divide in this country. I know it doesn't make sense....but get used to it....it is the world you live in. I'll forward the memo to ya if ya want.....lots of other BS rules and double standards in there too =)
If you choose to down thumb....perhaps you should choose to tell me why (at least if you can do so in a manner that indicates you have some sort of K-12 education....not a manner that shows you have a chip on your shoulder)? You may disagree with my sarcism....you can't disagree with the facts of life....if you don't like it, HELP TO CHANGE IT! Don't down thumb me because I call a duck a duck.....perhaps grow some of your own balls and stand up to the Al Sharpton bigots of the world that create the double standards instead of thinking in your pretty little heads you've done something by down thumbing me? Just a thought.....I know thoughts intertwined with reality are hard for some people.....

Cuz you don't have the figure for it. For most people it doesn't have all those negative associations that you have. Saying you have power is a positive affirmation. They mean economic power and respect, like that. Even, don't mess with me is defensive. Some people over do it of course. White, on the other hand is already power. That we are slipping, white and black is our own fault. Of course if we resent each other, that should help a lot. Love covers a multitude of sins. Here's a trick. Use your intuition more and you will feel very good about yourself without any problem. Simple, but life changing. Total turn around. Quantum flip in priorities and everything else. Alternatively it may be easier to just reverse your thinking. One wit said to the question what is truth?. Truth isseems to the opposite of everything I think.

i didnt notice the shirt she was wearing but although i am black i have to agree with you. i hate when black comedians tell jokes regarding white people. if a white person did that they would be considered racist. if a white person wore a shirt that said white power i would probably think they were racist. I Just hate racism period but i feel like black people get away with it to some extent. i dont think thats right.

I saw that - I kinda liked that t-shirt. I'd rather see Black kids wearing Black power t-shirts instead of Versace or Gucci, fake diamond embedded rapper clothes. But that is just me.

I have to say I agree with you....everyone wants equal rights and treatment except people of lots of races continually distinguish themselves by these symbols....that shirt said to me that she thinks blacks are better than any other race....and I have yet to figure out why that is ok for any race to do. folks need to stop worryin about how to better things for their race and start worrying about how to better mankind as a whole....and it sure could use some work! (although I don't see it happening!)

that symbol is not racist. For the one simple reason. Black people have not oppressed, subjugated, or attempted to wipe out white people or anyother race. at least not recently.
