I was watching tv and an interview of Harrison Ford was shown and he was sporting an earing. I have seen guys around town in the same age group also wearing earings. I just think its a sad attempt to be cool or hold on to their youth. Yes they have the right to do so (thats not the question here), because they have the right, does that mean they should?

Old people are still people. Who cares if they wear an earring? I don't think it is any more sad for an old person to attempt to be cool than it is for a young person to try to follow the crowd. What's the difference? What's wrong with it? You'll change your tune when you're old. If you don't, then you'll be the dorky old guy without the earring instead of the dorky old guy WITH an earring. Either way, you'll be a dorky old guy. May as well dress up however makes YOU happy.

So next you are going to say that a woman 60 or over shouldnt wear jewellry or make up because they are to old.Wow babe dont know how old you are and please dont think I am getting at you but you have a very old fashioned point of view. If a woman is allowed to wear what she wants until she is 100 shouldnt men be allowed to do the same thing. I thought in this day and age we were all equal. And this is a woman standing up for the males.

I don't think it's sad. Nor do I think that it's "a sad attempt to be cool or hold on the their youth." I think that it is a way of expressing themselves.

My father-in-law is in his 50's I believe, and I know that he still wears an earring. It's one way for him to honor his heritage and his beliefs. He is a Cherokee medicine man. I see absolutely nothing wrong with this.

That's ageism, don't ya know. I am well over the hill and often wear an earring because I think I am a pirate LOL Actvually, my girl friends...all of them...either think it's sexy or don't pay any attention at all.
And your question contradicts your statement. You say we have the right but probably shouldn't wear earrings...so what you are saying is you think we ought not to do that (judging our choices by your values and don't get me started on values).
I have nipple rings too. are you going to tell me that's wrong?

Harrison Ford is still a handsome man.

As a woman over 50, I think earrings are great. I have no problem with my age and I'll bet Harrison doesn't either.

I like it, I think it makes 'em look cool and age is just a number. It is the heart that matters. Harrison Ford looks great with earrings :)

I believe that even if u (or another person) can do it doesn´t mean its right, I agree with u on older men still wanting to look cool, it makes me sad too, its alittle icky as well (don´t u think so??), even if u are Harrison Ford or Brad Pitt! perhaps they´re wearing their hearts on their sleeves, so if they feel young at heart they wanna show it outside as well...

Don't be foolish.
See, Ford didn't get the earring last year to be "cool" (like you did). He got it three or four decades ago, and has had it ever since.
Ask yourself not why men in their fifties still wear their earring, ask yourself why you think they should stop wearing it, just because time has passed.

Honestly, who are those men hurting? May I suggest you focus a bit less on outward appearances and more on personality. Perhaps wearing the earing does make those men feel younger... is that such a bad thing? We all have the right to be happy... if wearing an earing when one is fifty years old makes them happy then I say go for it!

I don't know, but I think I would rather see that than whatever is going on with the new ear lobe piercing now where they keep putting something in it that makes it bigger and bigger. One of my favorite places to eat is at this salad bar and one of the waiters there is doing this and it literally makes me sick to look at it. Yeah, it's a little embarassing for someone in their 50's to be wearing one, but to me, as long as it doesn't make me want to vomit, I don't really care.
