Yes, Avon's Skin So Soft can be used as an insect repellent. I've used it during the summer on the east coast & it worked well.
I'm not sure how much it will help in tropical climates w/ lots of insects though.

You can use Avon Skin so soft as a insect repellent. They have spray on also that you can take with you on outings. I sent a bottle with my sons to scout camp. After every shower they would spray or rub the skin so soft all over them and the insects will not light or bite. Its great.

I would say yes it is true.. My summer spent at Parris Island in Marine Corps bootcamp would have been miserable without it. The sand fleas were really bad where the terrain was somewhat marshy. The Marine Corps actually issued Skin So Soft as the insect repellant of choice, and it worked wonders.

Yep...original scent works wonders. They also used to have a spray that had sun screen in it as well...that was marketed as an insect repellent. It worked great for my husband and I when we'd go for walks in the woods. They may still have it.

I find it works wonders. They have a dry oil body spray that's easy to put on as well as shower gel and bath oil.
Avon also do a sunscreen with added repellent, factor30 and i find this works just as well and also reduces the chance of sunburn.
I find that if i use the oil on a hot day i tend to burn.

my mom used to swear by the stuff, and put it all over us kids. I don't think it as good as something you would buy that is meant to be a bug repellent, but I don't' think it hurts anything to try it. You might look at the catalog, and see if they offer something in that line that works against bugs, other wise I would only use it as intended.

It's wonderful!! It works because it doesn't smell very good. It's also excellent for your pets. Make sure you get the original scent. There's alot of uses for skin so soft.

My dad lives in Louisiana so everything is swamp land and the mosquitos are terrible! He swears by it and wont go fishing without it. I would definitly give it a try!

My aunt swears by it. Mosquitoes don't like the scent of it so they stay away. My aunt works outside & she & her husband shower with it at night & she says it keeps the mosquitoes off of them the following day. Good luck.

Yes it is awesome we put it on all the kids when we are at the lake and it works wonders we use the original !!
