After the first answer I see I need to clarify the question a bit. first it is spelled M-O-N-R-O-E. The answer is not listed in Wikipedia, but it is a valid geologic term.

It is a type of "form" that can be seen in certain mud bogs or bubbling mud pools usually associated with geothermal activity like geysers and hot springs. The gas bubbles moving up through the mud, mounding the mud up into a sort of "pile" that resembles what Marylin Monroe was famous for. (You younger guys think of Anna Nichole Smith or Pamela Andersen, and it is not for being a dumb blonde.)

As a young geologist, many years ago, I ran across this phenomena in a textbook. These perfectly rounded mud mounds do resemble "Monroes". And they are really, truly named for actress Marylin Monroe.

Wow, that was a tough thing to describe.

I looked in the encylopedia and the dictionary and did not really find a geological explanation at least in that particular spelling. a Munro is any Scottish mountain with a height over 3000 feet (914.4 m)
