its about her childhood and her parents, her dad drinking, their divorce, and all that i did to her. my cousin says that this is his song for his parents, its all about growing up in disfunction and the pain later in life

I believe it's about the clarkson's divorce when Kelly was younger. It is not about a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. I love the song and prefer to think it really does mean the latter.

I take it as saying "don't put your whole heart & complete trust into a relationship"......well, I guess unless it is absolutely worth it. I've learned not to do that cause any time I did I just ended up w/ a broken heart & trust issues. I'm gonna be wary in any future relationships now.
