I think you meant to say Al's TOTAL sales for the week were $10,000 and not $1,000.

If $1,250 is one-eighth of total sales, multiply 1250 by 8 to equal $10,000 in total sales.

1,250= cash sales =1/8

1250 * 8= 10000 in total sales.

Set up a proportion: Let t = total sales
1/8 = 1,250/t

Solve for t.
1 * 1,250 = 1,250 then
8 * 1,250 = 10,000 therefore
t = $10,000

I got $10,000 because you would multiply $1,250 X 8= $10,000.

Doesn't matter if it's cash or not. 8 times $1250 = $10000
