Just North and East of the Airport are many huge, newer Apartment Complexes. These areas are reasonably safe (32822 & 32812)
Metrowest has a lot of apts, but a lot of crime too.
The UCF area has lots of apratments but it tends to 'student housing' standards - Crappy, poorly maintained lots of turn-over.
Close in (32801, 32806, 32803) you will find a lot of older apts in nice neighborhoods that could be bargains. There are also a lot of condos on the rental market in these areas

East Orlando is pretty safe. Are you a student or moving because of work? What is your budget? Look for apartments in 32827, 32828, 32825. 32817 area and around UCF area (north Alafaya Trail).

why were you moving to orlando? any prospective jobs? orlando is really spread out. you might want to narrow your search by where you want to work -- like disney is way south orlando -- it would be a really long commute.

east orlando has the highest crime rate in the metro area -- that chicks on crack. there are a lot of crack dealers on the east side so maybe i am right --

orlando is getting kind of run down -- i have always liked living in downtown. its more quiet than the suburbs -- the suburbs are all built up and traffic is 1000 times worse.

Well the ATF and FBI have taskforces here trying to get the crime under control so this really isn't a good time to ask about safe places/areas.. check back after they have arrested several thousand people.

East Orlando is pretty bad, try Winter Park, Maitland.............a bit more pricey but worth it..............traffic everywhere is horrible, but try to avoid any kind of commute on I-4..............West orlando is worse, as is the area around Kirkman Road,Pine Hills,etc...............downtown is nice, if you can afford it.......................good luck!!
