Someone else has already said this I'm sure, but it did come from a drawing by John's son (Julian I Believe), who was asked what it was a picture of and he said Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. The LSD thing is an urban myth.

Julian Lennon brought home a painting he had done in school and showed it to his father, John. Said it was of a girl in his class named Lucy. Since she was depicted in the sky with "diamonds" John incorporated it into a song, unaware that people would make a drug connection from it.

So unhappy. Too youthful. death be no longer proud. The music would be favourite completely properly as poetry and music without needed connection to LSD. LSD is luvely, mate, yet so's the music, in it quite is very own perfect, write, perfect? I have been given the bypass with Harry the pony who dances the Waltz -- the innovative and prescient is quite in my head -- i've got faith in Harry. properly Eleanor Rigby too. And Madonna with toddler at her ft (who's oftentimes used with how she makes ends meet?).

It has nothing to do with LSD. It really is a drawing his son drew when he was younger of a girl named Lucy.. and she was in the sky.. with diamonds. Lucy was a girl in Julian's (John's son) class.

Hmmmm...I heard both stories...
But the drawing by John Lennon's son is supposedly the true answer.

clearly about acid. John was the biggest acid head in the band. He just said the drawing thing so the song would get more radio play.
