I would have to say it was a small italian restaurant in Baton Rouge. I was there with a group of friends and we arrived 30 minutes before closing but they agreed to seat us and serve us. The waitress that took our drink orders was also the one closing down the bar for the night. (something I did not know)
I ordered an orange juice and it came to me in a 12oz glass. I had just performed on stage and so my mouth was dry, I shotgunned the entire drink and it was gone before I realized that the taste was seriously wrong. When she came back to get our food orders, she asked if I wanted a second OJ. I asked what the first one was because it was not OJ. She got this paniac look on her face and ran into the back. the manager came over and sniffed my empty glass and at this point informed me that an accident on the part of the waitress had just resulted in me being served a "Screwdriver" (vodka and oj) that was when I informed him that I was only 18. Needless to say our entire group of 10 people got to eat for free that night. I have no idea if they got to keep thier license or remain open.

It happens all the time with dishonest business people. If the nasty lady is the wife of the owner, she was padding the cost of the items because she wants to make more money. Maybe they did have to pay a little more that week, but that's not your fault. They ought to have a menu with the prices clearly stated. You do have some options. Go to the website of the Better Business Bureau and fill out a complaint form. That's what the BBB is FOR, and they might help resolve the issue. Businesses don't like to have complaints at the BBB site because they stay up there for two or three years. You can also call your State Attorney General's office and file a complaint for deceptive business practices, but that is probably a waste of time because unless you saved your receipts, you have no legal PROOF that you were ripped off. You could, if you're really angry, ask friends to go in and deal with the two different women, and save the receipts so you could show that they are charging two different prices. If you're serious about filing a complaint, you need evidence. By the way, if you write a letter, fix your spelling. You are a CUSTOMER, not a costumer. A costumer makes costumes.

I stopped by a Denny's just out side the Seattle Airport one early morning. The first thing the waitress asked me was "What do you want?" Being a well dressed, attractive, African American Woman; I couldn't guess what would make her ask that question. I asked her if they were still serving meals in this restaurant? Then, she tried to act as if she had misunderstood my purpose for coming there. My biggest mistake was not to turn around and head for the airport, but I thought I needed to relax, have a good meal before boarding the plane. The coffee was barely warm, the food took too long to arrive, I got scared after too long a wait for the food, and left, after a reasonable time, since they basically refused to serve me, I didn't want to wage a war over the food on my plate. I left only paying for the coffee.
Later on that year, I learned that there was a class action suit against Denny's. I was pleased to know that people got together the make their complaints known.

A visit to Red Lobster. The hostess seated my husband and I. 20 minutes later a waitress came and took our drink and food order. 45 minutes later our food was brought out by a guy along with our drinks. He just kind of threw everything down without even speaking. My husband and I were traveling, so we don't know the reputation of this resturant. We ate and paid the bill with no tip (felt we recieved no service) and left without complaining. I figured they were really having a bad day and knew it.

Well being a professional cook, I take some sympathy to some of the mistakes that happen in the resturant. But let me take some time to make you rethink things.
As a cook I recieve countless orders each night, and tonight was a VERY Bad night. I had someone else working on the line with me, and he just kept getting into my way, making me late on my orders. Then I had to deal with my servers taking plates out when they decided they were ready for them. The servers themselves irritate me because sometimes they forget to include anything on the tickets to tell me how an order is suppose to go out and then yell at me for it not being right.
I had 6 orders that went out wrong tonight, because one of the servers "Forgot" to put a note on the ticket. That caused my other customers food to be pushed back (get cold or warm) so I can remake a mistake they made.
So to tell you the truth what do I think? I feel no sympathy for a server if they give bad service. I dont get paid tips, I get paid a flat amount of money, and 9 times out of 10 I get paid less to work longer hours, and harder work than a server does. I go to work at 1pm and leave somewhere around 11pm every day. Servers get to work somewhere around 4:30 and leave at 9:30-10:00 and complain that it was a long day.
When I go out ot eat, and I recieve bad service, I make it known. I have several places that I refuse to eat at because the servers have destroyed my opinion of the place.
So next time you recieve a cold plate, or an undercooked/overcooked meal, blame your server. Dont tip them. But be sure that you are a curtious customer. There is never a reason to be rude, and if it is a new server, or a busy night etc.. Be reasonable. Cooks get alot of bad reputations, when it usually isnt our fault.

One time we were at Chili's and, while it was busy, it didn't appear to be incredibly busy. They sat us in a booth, and then 15 minutes later our waitress introduced herself. She didn't bring water for at least another 5 minutes, and she appeared more concerned with chatting with her friends (the hostesses) than doing her job. My buddies and I ended up getting up and I threw the menu in the air and stated an obscenity somewhat loudly to the degredation of the restaurant as we walked out. We had been there 45 minutes and hadn't even gotten our order taken.
About 4 months later, we reluctantly went back hoping it had changed. Nope, the same waitress and hostess were there, and it took 30 minutes to order. As a tip, we wrote, "QUIT. You are a terrible waitress." on the bill.
Later, one of my friends found that the waitress had ADDED a tip for him (written it in) after we left. I had been watching my accounts so I knew it didn't happen to me, but he called the manager and freaked out on them, got his entire bill refunded.
You won't believe this, but another half year goes by, and we just stopped in there again 4 weeks ago. Same waitress, same hostess. We just walked straight out. We will probably wait another 2 years before trying any other Chili's Restaurant again.

One of the worst was at Ambrosia in Buffalo, where I live. I try not to be snotty with waitresses (my sister did it for years and it really is thankless job) but same story. We sat ourselves after being told "I'll be right with you"for 20 minutes (I had an hour lunch break) then the usual story, took forever for drinks, messed up the order twice, then never brought a bill. Had it been busy I would have been more than understanding but she was on her cell phone, talking to the hostess yadda yadda yadda. So now I'm 20 minutes late back to work. So we just walked out.
Another time I ran to wendy's on my lunch break and really had to pee. the ladies room is only a single room so me and this women with a small child are waiting and waiting, crossing our legs and hopping up and down. finally, the door opens and a GUY walks out. the lady lets me go first and i walk right into the room which this guy has PEED and **** all over! im talking dumb and dumberer style, like **** everywhere. so ive totally lost my appetite at this point but im FUMING and starving. so i go to order my food, like I'm gonna be able to eat...and the guy who created the masterpiece in the bathroom is leaning over the counter (apparently he works there) talking to the employees.they're all hootin and hollerin like theyre at a jay-z show (aw shoooooooooooooo) and wiggedy whacking all over the place instead of helping any customers. and the freakin loser manager is standing there watching it. (reminds me of leon from rosanne...) so this continues and someone asked to place an order and the "artist" gave her a nasty look and was like pissed she interrupted him. so i took it upon himself and asked, l very loudly, if he was done shitting all over the women's bathroom so someone else could use it. that shut them all up. i smiled at the manager, told him to do his job and control his employees and walked out.

A place in Montauk. Summer help. The food sucked, I sent it back and the chef came out and started arguing. The waitress was an ill tempered little guttersnipe with a runny nose and p'iss poor attitude. I didn't pay for the meal and I left one penny for the tip.

Sushi Mambo in Napa, CA. We arrived early in the evening and were the only table. It took forever to get water, and then the waitress ran off before we could ask for a drink. Time passes, she finally comes back for a drink order, and we knew we better skip the appetizer and go straight for the entrees. I ordered sushi, he ordered a steak. His steak took 20 minutes and was delivered. No sushi. I snacked off his salad, my drinks ran out, he finished his steak (I told him to go ahead, sushi is raw, should be out any minute). No sushi. After 45 minutes...no sushi. We finally managed to actually SEE the waitress and flag her down and tell her to cancel the sushi. She said no, it was coming right out. We asked for the check anyway and I said fine, just box it up. She brought it to me on a plate, no box, and the bill. I had to ask for a box again and wait. We were ticked off!
Turns out the chef who makes the sushi was training some other waitstaff. Nevermind the actual customers! I finally got my box, left $1 and we left. But we didn't get home for 5 hours so the sushi was bad by then and we had to throw it out. All that for nothing. We'll never go back.
